Interview med Roshon:
How does it feel to return to Camp Rock with the sequel?
I’m super excited about Camp Rock 2. The new movie is very, very, very energetic and the dance numbers are 100 times more serious than the first movie. We do some crazy dancing in the sequel! You know what? I feel very lucky to be a part of something as big as this. The fans are going to love it.
What’s it like to work with the Jonas Brothers?
It’s great. The Jonas Brothers are such cool guys. They’re exactly the same people they were when we started the first movie. They’re awesome guys to hang out with and they’re really friendly. Plus, they’re the most talented musicians I know. The Jonas Brothers are amazing!
How would you describe each of the brothers?
Nick is very chilled and cool. He doesn’t get hyped at all, but Joe is the total opposite. Joe is very energetic and he strives to be the wildest of the bunch. He’s bubbling with energy!
How would you describe Kevin Jonas?
Kevin is like the businessman of the group. He keeps everything under control, but he has fun too. When it comes to business, he’s got his head screwed on.
What about your new Camp Rock 2 co-star, Frankie Jonas?
I don’t know what words can describe Frankie. He’s totally awesome! We’ve got a very similar taste in music, so we’re always walking around singing songs. Frankie is my boy. We have a little dance party everywhere we go.
So what exactly happens in Camp Rock 2?
In Camp Rock 2, a rival camp opens up across the lake. It’s called Camp Star and Mitchie doesn’t like it at all. Camp Star steals some of our counsellors and kids – and they try to close us down. It’s up to us to fight and get Camp Rock back on track!
How cool is the music in the movie?
There are loads of different musical styles in Camp Rock 2 – and the new songs are amazing. There are some slow songs, some fast songs and some crazy hip-hop songs. There’s a new actor in the movie called M Dot and he is a crazy R’n’B artist. He’s got a great musical style.
Do you sing in Camp Rock 2?
I do! I’m involved in one of the tracks called It’s On – and it’s really cool. Jordan Francis and me have a dance solo and we rap and sing. You’re going to be blown away by the dance numbers when you see them. They’re awesome!
How musical are you?
I’m very musical. I was six years old when I started playing drums and writing music. My mum and sister are singers; my dad is an actor, producer and director – and my brother is a rapper. We’re a very musical family.
Can you let us into some insider secrets from the set of Camp Rock 2?
Sure, I’ll let you into a little secret… The on-set catering had some crazy cookies. They were amazing! Every time I went in to get one, I’d have to take two. I was addicted.
What else can you tell us?
Well, the bees were insane in Canada. You’d often see cast members running around screaming because they were scared of bees – but the bees were everywhere. It was scary, but very funny!
Do you like your outfits in the movie?
I think the clothes are great in the new movie. I was super comfortable in them! In the first movie, my personal style wasn’t too similar to what I wore on screen – but I think the writers saw my true personality and they changed the wardrobe to fit it for the second movie.
How would you describe your sense of style?
I’m a real B-Boy. My clothes are true dancer-style clothes. I love the outfits in the sequel!
What did the cast get up to when the cameras stopped rolling?
You’d usually find me making weird noises or beat boxing whenever I wasn’t working. Everyone would look at me strangely, but I’m usually really excited and full of energy. Beat boxing helped me get some of the energy out of my system. Sometimes I’d beat box in the privacy of my trailer, but other times I’d just do it walking along or wherever.
What was your trailer like?
My trailer was awesome. It had a sofa, a television and a fridge. What else would you find in there? I always had my laptop, my iPod, my drumsticks and my digital camera with me too.
Did you take lots of pictures on set with your digital camera?
Yeah, I took loads of pictures. I’m a big picture guy and my dad was a big video guy, so he took loads of videos on set. I call him Poppa Razzi!
How messy was your trailer?
My trailer was pretty clean. In fact, it wasn’t messy at all. It got a little out of hand in the middle of the day, but it was always clean and tidy by the time I went home. I was good like that!
Tell us the truth, Roshon… Did the Jonas Brothers have bigger trailers than the rest of the cast?
To be honest, I don’t think so. I didn’t spend any time in their trailers, so I’m not sure – but I think everyone had similar sized trailers to chill out in. Well, it looked the same from the outside anyway!
